Lin’s Lucky Red Envelope

Written by Sennah Yee | Commissioned by Holt Renfrew 2022

It’s Lin’s first time celebrating Lunar New Year in Canada, and nothing seems to be going right…

Brought together by Holt Renfrew, I had the opportunity to work with Sennah Yee again on a fun little story, telling the tradition of red envelope through Lin.

With a shorter turnaround time, I designed a digital style that echoed my watercolour style. I enjoyed including the familiar Granville street here in Vancouver, as well as sprinkling Lunar New Year decorations I remember from my childhood throughout the book. Another new experience for me on this project was collaborating with Hazel Village in creating a doll. A doll that was inspired by the classic tiger pillows I had treasured back in China.

All proceeds of Lin’s Lucky Red Envelope went to Project 1907.
